With a good 5-speed OD transmission and the right rear end gear, a slightly over-stock 235 will have as good or better performance over a wider torque band than a peaky cammed-up engine with a narrow power range. That's what a lot of the Diesel engines have going for them- - - -plenty of torque and enough gears to stay in that area over a wide range of road speeds.
