Advancing a cam increases low end torque. We used to do that on the 1/4 mile dirt track cars to help the hole shot off the turns. Stovebolts have plenty of grunt, even without the cam being advanced. I'd retard the cam a few degrees to help the top end HP if I moved it at all.
