OK, just double-checking. The place the wear usually causes problems is the area where the fork contacts the starter drive. The two round knobs that touch the drive gear assembly have a habit of wearing flat and keeping the gear from engaging the flywheel fully before the armature starts to turn. It's not uncommom on a rebuilt starter to see evidence of a weld repair on those knobs.
