I built a mild 283 4 bbl some years back. After fiddling around with several different carbs on it (Rochester 4GC, Quadrajet, Holley Econimizer, and a small Edelbrock, I finally bit the bullet and bought a new Holley 390 for it. Great carb for a smallish engine like that 283.
