Been there done that Brian, no luck on evil-bay.
I'd really be supprised to find a NOS Rochester "B" for a 216.

And Jon, that's the whole point of all this agonizing over the Rochester "B". I am as big of a nit-picker as the VCCA judges are and am trying to keep this truck as accurate as possible right down to the last bolt.
I would have to agree with you on using that thicker cork gasket material. First thing that came to mind was that you will concentrate the load at the screw bosses and if there is insufficient support there, it's probably going to result in your pull the casting down at this point quite easily. You have addressed the fact before that the major flaw in the "B" is that it only has four screws holding it together. if they had not skimped on this the carb would probably have survived many, many more decades. Interesting bit of information about how you sneak up on stress relieving the castings Jon. I wish you had mentioned that before I had relaxed several castings.

That’s one thing that hadn’t occurred to me Tony, the floats could apply an uneven load on the pivot. This may be what is adding to the leakage problem into the Venturi. I’ve been puzzled by the fact the there was enough negative pressure to pull fuel from the bowl into the throat even when sitting level at idle.
