Hello All -
I recently re-wired the entire truck (6 cylinder / 235). Before re-wiring it ran great. After re-wiring it still runs fine but starts to cough and sputter when I get to the tail end of each gear. In 3rd gear, it might go 40 mph while coughing and sputtering. It just doesn't respond when I try to accelerate. I thought it might be the timing and dwell since I replaced points and condensors. I took the truck to a mechanic and he set the timing and checked dwell. After a few minor adjustments, no really noticable difference...still coughs and sputters at the tail end of each gear. Any ideas? During the re-wiring I replaced the starter, coil, resistor. Your ideas would help tons. Thanks in advance!!
