i replaced my glovebox with the cardboard version on my 56 a few months ago... i seem to remember that the "flexibility" of the cardboard (or which thin plastic would have) was necessary for me to bend and jockey the thing into position. if you make a more rigid metal one, make sure you can get it in there!
