A metal one will NEVER be possible to put in there. Unless removing the complete FAN and heater and all.
It was hell enough to get the CARDBOARD one in.
But the clips were included and it bolted right in.
Just remember what I forgot, USE GLOVES.... mine looks like 25 years of use ( misuse ) right after install
