If I supply the metal, the welding shop will do it for about 10-15 dollars. We are moving at the end of this month and we finally can once again start using things like a large two car garage/shop that we are turning into a workshop at the new house which is where the cummins conversion will take place. I know how to do metal work, but not anything major like frame repair or things like that. We own things like almost every hand tool out there, angle and bench grinders, impact wrenches, cordless tools, drill press, miter saws, a work bench, a vise, a welder, 2 or 3 large tool boxes, etc., but do not have a 220 plug for the welder. My grandfather said I can use whatever I need from his metal pile for free and there is tons of sheet metal, square tube, angle iron, etc. If I cut it to size, the welding shop will weld it together for me at about $15. Does this sound like a good way to go? I also know how to do sanding and painting on small things, so THAT is not a problem, but cars and trucks would be. What do you think?
