My brother bought my mom a new phone so all her numbers could be programmed into it. We also got her a cell phone. If a new number needs to be added, or to see who called, one of us has to show her how to do it. I asked, "Why can't you figure it out?" She replies that she is too old for those modern gadgets.
I had to remind her of a conversation we had earlier about young kids and how stupid they are and how they can't do anything. I told her "They are smart enough to figure out a phone." She now knows how to program her phone after I showed her that the manual shows all of the things she needs to know and there is a help section on her cell phone. She can now figure out her fancy microwave too.
