I'm not sure I'd call moving the tank an "upgrade". I personally drive a '66 and a '65 both with the tanks behind the seat - where they were meant to be. I don't smell gas (not even on hot days here in sunny FL) and there is no sloshing noise. And I don't have to worry about moving things around in my beds when I have to fill up with gas. Just my 2 cents worth.

My thoughts as well. When I bought my truck it had the tank mounted under the bed. I removed it and put a new one back behind the seat. Fortunately for me, the P/O left the filler neck in the cab unmolested.
