I thought I was on to what I needed based on Tim's info and the responses that followed. However I am now more confused than ever. When I rebuilt my gauges I replaced the oil gauge with a 0-60 pound unit and didn't notice the oil line hookup. I got a new oil line kit from Classic Parts and it has the correct male nuts. I saved the old engine end fitting which accepts those nuts and I believe is called a connector in the previous discussion of part numbers. I seem to recall that my old original oil gauge had a cavity the nut threaded into.
Not so my new gauge. It has a rounded end and the same thread as the male oil line nuts. Because it has a rounded end (almost pointed if it didn't have the hole) you cannot use a regular compression nut and ferule. It seems like I need a double female ended connector that has the proper flare so the nut seats. Is there something simple I am missing? Any help you guys can give me about this will be greatly appreciated. I have struck out at the three biggest NAPA stores in the area.
