I have a 216 with the old style filter that I still have as a Babbitt Pounder. It now has over 100,000 miles on it and going strong. If there were oiling issues I would have detected it by now. I use a high grade 10-30 motor oil with no other additives. I'm going to pull the head to take a look at the upper end soon. I did replace all the valves and seats when I built it up. I'm using a 248 GMC rocker assembly that I had the towers machined down to the length of the stock Chevy towers. That is still functioning well. I have an HEI unit on it and also a dual intake with heat and Carter/Webers from Stovebolt and cast iron headers.
