For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 181 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 181 | I have a 216 with the old style filter that I still have as a Babbitt Pounder. It now has over 100,000 miles on it and going strong. If there were oiling issues I would have detected it by now. I use a high grade 10-30 motor oil with no other additives. I'm going to pull the head to take a look at the upper end soon. I did replace all the valves and seats when I built it up. I'm using a 248 GMC rocker assembly that I had the towers machined down to the length of the stock Chevy towers. That is still functioning well. I have an HEI unit on it and also a dual intake with heat and Carter/Webers from Stovebolt and cast iron headers. Normbc9 | | |
