(I am pulling this into new thread because I think my question has changed a bit.)
You asked how to fix your prop shaft brake; in what way is it failing? Is there friction material on the band? Is the drum installed on the back of the transmission? Or does it just need adjustment to tighten up the action?
Yes, I have a drive shaft parking brake. There are two things wrong...one I need to fix, the other bugs me.
If you pull the lever on the floor, it never tightens up on the drive shaft drum. I don't know if this means the friction stuff is bad...(but I can tell its old)...or if something needs to be tightened up...(can't see an easy answer of something to tighten).
The second thing is that the lever feels loose and wobbly. It doesn't slide like I would expect.
LMC doesn't have anything like this in their catalog and I can't find anything like it on the web.
Where can I get this shop manual thing, and does anyone know where to start for replacement parts? (I'll call napa to start)
