thanks for the advice. So now we have identified the big noise! Can I take it apart to change the bearings? Or do I need to take it to the transmission shop? I don't want to make a bigger, more expensive mess. Should I just start taking it apart and see what's in there? I have the brown service manual book, but I think that shows an earlier model. This one seems to be an open variety, since I can easily get to all the parts.
