goneagain, I believe the 37/38's are the same. On my 37 which I put a Malibu rearend under, it was 1 1/2 inch. I simply made a flat plate, drilled a hole to set it over the spring center pin, then moved 1 1/2' from that hole, drillesd and tapped that hole and threaded in a Hex head bolt in it. Then the perch block set down over that bolt. Simply and works fine.

I won't say yea or nay on this but there has been much talk here in the past about just turning the springs around end to end and then it'd be right. I turned them around on my 52panel but there is a couple things to deal with if you do.... as the springs are built "off set" because of the "swiveling rearend". Its a long story but if you want to know call me!!
