My Work Truck from 1976 to 1998 was 1946 Chevrolet One Ton Pick up.
I rebuilt the 216 shortly after getting it, and, ran it 296,000 City Miles and never had an Oil Filter on it...never had to do anything serious but adjust the Valves a couple times and pull a couple Shims once in a great while.
I ran a Marvel Mystery Drip Oiler, feeding into the intake Manifold.
Just use good Oil and, change it every 2,000 Miles.
Maybe use one of the Zink Additives in your Oil, which others here know about, but which are new to me.
