It's no big issue to add a filter whether it's a modern spin on or vintage canister. Just plumb it so it feeds from the oil pressure sending unit port and to the distributor valve. Also understand it's a bypass filter so it won't filter all of the oil every time through the engine. My '38 didn't have a filter & I didn't have a canister filter so I bought a remote base & fastened it to the firewall. When I managed to find a canister filter I could afford I swapped it out, no biggie. Spin on Canister
