What is its purpose and do I need to add that or will the vents on the tank "box" suffice? Thanks! Your vent should be fine .Does it have a rollover check valve ?The vent to the filler is to allow the fuel to go in as fast as possible .If this vent is clogged or pinch it takes a long time to fill your tank.Here is a good link with pictures of a tank build .Yours is looking good and it's huge !
