It is my understanding that 55'/2 was 12V from the factory. So I doubt it has been changed. If it has a 6V starter (w/ 216 flywheel) it will spin like no tomorrow on 12V. Thats the setup I have on MaryAnne, my little 53' and it tries to throw the engine out of the frame. Lots of folks run this setup and it works fine. There would be no mistaking it IMO.
