I have used a similar idea for removing items but it just never occurred to me to use that technique to draw the bushing in.
There is no way to get at the backside of the worm shaft bearing races. Anyway, if I look at them without my glasses they look perfect. Actually the inner races on the worm gear have more marks and I am not going to replace that entire shaft so I might as well use the old outer races too. They really are not bad, just that I know it would be better to have the new bearings in new races.
