Ah, thanks for the insights...!
I start to see why most go for a newer drive line.
I did some research a while back and it looks like the M21 tranny is the only one that bolts on directly to the bell housing and I get to keep the tree-shifter.

I thought of the 261 may be a bit much for the small tranny, but haven't thought of the torque tube.
So how did the rodders of the 30s-50s do it?
