They used the stronger packard transmissions. The m21 isn't the only transmission that will bolt up. The saginaw 3s and 4s will also bolt as well as some warner t-10s. The m21 is a good transmission, but could be a little bit spendy. It might be hard to make that one shift from the tree properly... most would install a hurst shifter and cut a hole in the floor pan
