Looking to get Mom's old Willy's 4x4 PU going.

It is mostly Chevy except for the body.
1 ton 8 lug axles, 350 engine, but I have to decide which trans to use.

Axle tag says 4.09, tires are 33".
Last drive train was a 350 and T-18 trans.

Mom's knee is not liking a clutch pedal so much these days.

I have a complete 4x4 drive train from an 85 1/2 ton.
I am concerned that with torque converter slip the 4.09 gears may be too low for highway use without having to rev the engine too high for decent mileage?

I tried out some gear calculators and it looked OK, but none of them gave a correction factor for the auto trans, or is that not actually an issue?

At these prices I want my gas 100 octane, leaded, and my windshield washed!
