Take out the shift lever out by depressing the coller & turning it counter-clockwise about 20 degrees. With a big screw driver line up all the slots in the shift rails. Put the lever back in with it going into the opening in the slots. If that doesn't do it you have missed the syncro. sleevs with the forks & you will have pull the cover.
