Upon removal of the pinion nut and the six bolts, the cover comes off. There should be an oil seal that faces the large pinion bearing and behind that is the felt seal. The felt seal really doesnt matter. A new pinion seal is National 41130N measuring 2.598" x 3.481" x 0.50"

Make sure there isnt a groove worn into the yoke, otherwise you can get a speedi-sleeve to place on it when reinstalling. I have the number around here somewhere... Also place a little rtv sealant on the yoke teeth when placing back onto the pinion so that oil cannot leak out the splines, which is highly unlikely anyways.

As for the hubs, after pulling the axle shaft itself, you should have one bearing retainer nut, a lock washer, another bearing retainer nut, then the whole hub/drum assembly should slide off the rear end housing.

Here are links to my photos of my '47.1 rebuild. The hub setups are a bit different, but it should give you an idea on whats involved with the pinion and bearings.
