Just change it out and go about your business. I am with Alvin, short trips are really hard on engines. It you start it, drive it till its good and hot, other wise leave it off.
My alcohol burning race car used to get water in the oil real bad due to the condensation and short runs. Each week I would drain a cup or two of water out of the oil pan before heading to the track.
