Just as a quick note, in the automotive and truck field (by the books I learned from) 12 volt electrical circuits are allowed .5V total voltage drop on the positive side (for neg. ground systems) and .2V total voltage drop on the ground side. If under cranking conditions, you are within these specs, your cable size is fine. These specs have guided me without fail professionally. Thought I would add what I know.
