I appologize if I offended, but to say that mechanical work takes less talent than bodywork just ins't the case. Try aligning a Trailblazer or Envoy, it's not an easy job. Or better yet, corrcting GMs fouled up specs on the Colorado so it won't chew up the tires. I suppose if you look at it from the point of just "thowing parts at it", then yes, mechanical work is easier. But to truly be able to diagnose and repair problems and not be a "parts installer" takes quite a bit of skill,talent, and creativenss, as much or more than bodywork.
BTW, I did all of the mechanical and bodywork, including paint, on my '55. Even got prise by a local bodyshop on how well it turned put.
