I think whatever you are trained (or have experience) in is easier than that trade you have no experience or training in. That said, I think mechanical stuff is more a precision skill, and body work is more manual labor intensive. It looks like neither is "easy", each one takes skill and patience to do a quality job. My personal preference is mechanical stuff (partially because I have a son-in-law that does body work).
