It seems like the only wheels that will fit our dually 1-tons are the P30 style wheels. Too bad they're so ugly. I've been reading on some of the diesel forums about the possibility of using the 19.5 inch, 8 lug, 6.5 inch bolt pattern diameter wheels that have a large bore diameter (at 4.56" ours are fairly small). From what I understand some guys have made flanged hub "shims" or flanged bushings that take up the space between the overbore and the axle hub. Basically a close tolerance cylindrical shim that takes up the space between the hub and the wheel bore, and the flange of the shim is used as the wheel nut flange instead of the flat circular flange on stock assemblies.
Anyone see any fault in that? The bore of the wheel is loaded in bearing with the hub. Bushings are used all the time in many applications that have the same type of loading. Might make the choices of wheels much more available and abundant.
