Hmmm, seized/shorted alternator and resulting fire, maybe that was the thread I saw which suggested the 100A breaker?
I seem to recall the same fellow had more than one alternator fail in a disastrous fashion.
Perhaps related to U.S. brands not actually being U.S. made?

I clearly remember reading a convincing discussion which suggested the 100A breaker as a safety.
I just need to remember the details of it's installation.
