Can't believe it. I "think" I got them in the right place. The trick? An eight pound hammer. I was actually able to "wedge" them into the frame rails by driving (read "beating") them from where they would fit to where they needed to be. "If at first you don't succeed, find a bigger hammer."
The side to side or distance between the right and left frame mounts is still too close at 18-1/2 inches (I measure 19 inches even with the engine mounts in place on the block), and the horizontal plates of the frame mounts are all the way into the frame and hitting the radius of the bend inside the rail. I think a 45 ° chamfer on the edges of the mounts will fix that.
The vertical placement of the frame mounts "appear" to be close.
The battery in my camera is charging. I'll send you images ASAP.
I don't think this is what Tom had in mind, but it sure answerers the question of why they do not appear to fit.
