Yeah, he and I got together and decided to cut the rear ones on the same curve as the fender and I think that adds a nice touch. I also decided to round the ends to give it more of a custom look.
On the front ones, I noticed that in entering the truck, people put their feet on the back side of the step plate or on the running board, missing the plate entirely (my wife actually thought she was not supposed to step on it). Consequently, we decided to make a plate that was about twice as long as the original step plate.
Now getting in or out, the step plate provides coverage.
I am pretty happy with them. Since the bed is covered with the same material, it provides a "continuity" of design and a consistent look.
