UPDATE-I've just been given a '53(I think) 248. It needs a rebuild. I haven't pulled it from the truck yet,the owner says it's frozen up.Missing water pump,ignition wiring and cap/rotor,starter.Where's he best prices for bearings,rings(possibly pistons too) gasket set? Anybody have a spare 3X1 intake to fit it? Who sells aluminum valve cover,side cover etc. for it? I've found lotsa stuff like that for bellybutton-I mean BOW TIE motors,but not much for GMC.This will have to be a relatively low buck rebuild,so I'll try not to mess with the hot rod stuff until I have it in and running.
Will the HEI to 235 conversion work on the GMC 248? Would it be worthwhile to have the head milled while it's apart?
Any tips,info preferred parts suppliers or money saving hints on this thing will be gratefully accepted!
