I had my shifter rebuilt from Hurst for $110, and it's perfect. Lots cheaper than a new one. I'm also forced to use the factory shifter for my New Process/833 o.d. trans, so it wasn't an option. But I've had other shifters rebuilt by them, and was happy.
For anyone with the high-hump floor pan, if you want to make the swap to the low-hump pan, be warned that it isn't a direct bolt-in. The flange/mounting area at the bottom of the firewall is different. The firewall is the same, the trans tunnel mounting flange is a panel that's spot-welded on, and is different between the tall and low humps.
