Your mechanic might have made a mistake in the rebuild, but I would guess the wrist click comment was just a joke. You didn't mention new pistons or wristpins. Holes in the oil pan says something went in the lower end. You really need to take it apart and find out what happened. Make sure your mechanic is involved in the tear-down or he will claim no responsibility. Good Luck, and let us know what happens.
