My step side truck is a long bed. However, I have seen pictures of an earlier 60-66 truck with a long bed step with the side mount and the indented fender.
I'm pretty sure the side mount on the step side was an option. When I was a kid, my cousin had a '64 short step with that indentation on the fender. It all depends on how it was ordered I suppose.
