Thanks for the post Bkndsdl.

Well, I learned something, so this is starting out to be a great day. thumbs_up.

The fender I bought at a swap meet had screw holes holes and a "circle" in the paint from where the back up light was for many years. It didn't have an indent. But I really haven't a clue about the real vintage of the fender.

So here is a thought:

Woogeroo eludes to the reverse lights being an option prior to 1966. Is it logical that prior to 1966 if you ordered the optional back up lights they were simply bolted to the fender, with no indent on the fender?

Then when they were a "standard" part in 1966 that Government Motors, sorry I meant to say General Motors, modified the fender to have a flat spot to mount the light?

Anybody got an original 1960-1965 with the optional "factory" reverse lights on the fenders that can answer this quandry?

John

I didn't really need a "correct year fender" for my truck. I modified the fender anyway to accept 1964 Impala taillights. But, for me, knowing the history of how the factory built these trucks is a big part of the fun of the stovebolt hobby.

Here is a photo of the Impala tail lights on the fender, looks like it was meant to be, IMHO.
