The cutout relay will have to be adjusted first. Look in the manual and see where it is at 6V and then figure out how much you want to move it. The next adjustment would be the voltage regulator contacts. On six volts it runs somewhere around 7.2 V under certain conditions. You would need to be above 8V for sure. When the voltage is adjusted properly, it should charge a noticeable amounts for a few minutes and then settle down to a very small reading on the charge side. This is with the motor turning well above idle. You shouldn't have to touch the current setting.
