The original spring purches are the type that allow the housing to rotate as the axel moves up and down as you go over bumps. This is necessary because it only has one u joint inside of the closed drive line. It pivots at the front only. You will need to remove these rotating purches and replace them with some from a trailer supply or another after market supplier. If you look at your original ones you will see they have a grease fitting on them.
