a posi does not put power to both wheels all the time- hence the term limited slip. there are clutches involved which will lock up when requiren
now if you welded up the spider gears you wood have a locked rear endand both wheels drive constantly and evenly, which would make it harder to go around corners.
a locker allows you to lock them up by you when required
