I carried a '55 cab (big window) in the back of my 2003 Chevy 2500HD from Oregon to Alberta 2 years ago. It sat sideways in the bed, but there wasn't a lot of spare room.
As far as weight and being top heavy, it wasn't too bad. there was no glass in it (no doors either) so all the weight was located in the lower part of the cab.
