Rebuilding carburaters is a fairly easy job if you take your time and have a good clean work surface. You will need carb cleaner and pipe cleaners, some small wire and a brush. Use the wire and pipe cleaners along with solvent to clean in the holes and tubes. Compressed air helps! You really have to get the inside as clean as possible. The solvent that comes with a basket for soaking is better, since it can soak over night. But spray cans work pretty good, just use a lot of it and be thorough.
The mechanics of the carburater is pretty simple, the few moving parts are easy to understand and all the kits have good instructions. Most shop manuals have the same information. Most one barrels are the same other then the jetting and metering rods.
The main thing now is to find the ID tag on your carburater. You must have the correct model number before ordering the kit. The kits cover a lot of different models, but you still need to be in the right area.
Just because it was on the engine, doesnt mean its the original carb! You could try posting a picture of it if you can't find the tag. Joe
