I've seen this mistake made sevral times over the past 40 years or so. When the clutch disc is installed backwards, the dampening springs in the clutch hub drag on the flywheel attaching bolts even with the pressure plate fully retracted. The part of the clutch disc hub with the springs in it should be installed with the thicker side away from the surface of the flywheel.
