EXAMPLE: recently needed a window controls for drives side. One of the "best" salvage yards said "we got plenty of them. Come pic out the one that you need" price was $50. Well, I went to the Pontiac dealership and bought it NEW for $61 including tax!
This has been the case over and over so I recommend doing your homework before doing anything else. It pays!!!!
Depending on the actual model/year of parts there is a BIG difference in some parts. EXAMPLE; most places now charge $15 to turn a rotor and the same rotor can be purchased new for less than 25 bucks. (I'm lucky,a fellow friend turns mine for $5 ea)
Of coarse some cost a lot more but maybe not that much more?
Think it through and let SAFETY be the predominant factor.
OH, and I just purchased a new steering gearbox for $116 (with my discount of coarse) and the junk yard wanted $75 for a "NICE" one. Yeah right!
