If you want the low 1st gear, look for a NV4500 5spd starting in '92 or '93 full size. Looks about the same size as SM420. I have a '93 with this trans. I haven't got it out on the road yet, but it seems to shift better than an SM420. I used it today to drag a '58 International 350 tractor w/loader & backhoe out of my yard to up by my garage. I put in 4LO & 1st gear and had no problems except for some ruts I dug. Keep looking on Craigslist and you can find whole trucks for $2K or less. That's with an TB injected 350.
