I also have a V8 in my 62 pickup I also have the 261 that came out of it. It's a 350 punched out to 355 with Keith Black Pistons, Comp Cam, Proform Roller Rockers 1.5 to 1 21/2" GM. Rams Horn Manifolds, Street Damper, True Roller Timing chain, Preformer Intake, 600 CFM Carb, Aluminum Water Pump all by Edelbrock, GM Fuel Pump, Lokar Shifter and the engine Balanced with a GM 400 Tranny to a 373 ratio 12 Bolt GM Limited Slip Rearend. This truck is going to be a daily driver and to pull my fishing boat. It will have approx. 300HP. I consider this a non hotrod truck. Now you all know when you get started on a project like this it has to be laid out before hand. The other stuff I have done to the engine to make it run better and make it last was to send the exhaust manifolds in to have them powder coated with high heat retention coating which makes the exhaust run cooler in the engine compartment. Griffen Aluminum with Spal Fan for cooling and B&M Trans Cooler for the trans cooling I have spent $7000.00 on the truck chassie and other equipment like AC etc. so far and $2500.00 on the rebuild and parts for it. The engine will resemble a 1960 engine rebuild. So that is that so far and hope to be able to post my pics of the truck in progress soon. I hope you guys do not think I am braging about what I have done as I just like to tell people what can be accomplished on a tight budget.
