I am getting ready to install new side glass in my 49 GMC and have already painted the window frames. My old regulators were shot, so splurged and put in new regulators. Lookiing for advice on use of window setting tape acquired from American Classic. My old original type manual tells me to put the tape in place using 10 w oil which will help swell up the tape after the window glass is installed. The oil is supposed to swell the tape to help with final setting. The particular tape that I received has no adhesive, but has a cloth type backing with rubber on the opposite side. I am assuming that the rubber side would contact the glass with the cloth side contacting the window frame. Looks like there will quite a bit of excess tape after setting the glass, so planned to cut off the excess with a sharp utility knife. Also any good photos or diagrams of the installed window regulators would be great. When I got the truck, all of the internal door parts had been removed so I didi not have any reference for reinstalling. My manual shows setting the regulators into the lower door opening to start installation, but that is about it. I have the regulators bolted into place and want to make sure they are installed correctly. The regulators do crank up and down well as long as I keep the support arms from flopping down and catching on the supports, etc. Any advice on both topics would be appreciated.
