The original grille I took out was even with each other. The repro on does over hang. I've cut the inner structure out and now in the process of welding in spacers between the bars.
On one side of the upper grill, the mounting strip was at one inch from the end of the lateral bar. On the other side it was 3/8 of inch. This cause the upper grille to stick out farther on one side, and the center crease of off center.
It would have been better if the manufacturer had just sold the grilles as a kit. I could have done a better job of welding everything together and it would have fit a lot better.
